Welcome to the Institute of Child Health, one of the four components of the College of Medical Sciences, University of Benin. The Institute is a center for Child Health research, training and provision of non-therapeutic child care. The Institute carries out research in various aspects of child health including promotive and preventive aspects of Child Health.
The Institute is involved in the training of different cadres of health care personnel – nurses, medical students and paediatric residents. The Institute also organizes adhoc training for other categories of persons. Two capacity building courses are domiciled in the Institute- Certificate in Early Child Health and Development and Postgraduate Diploma in Child Health.
The Institute provides high quality services at her Child Welfare Clinic.
These include Immunization, Growth monitoring, Nutrition education/rehabilitation, Lactation management and Breastfeeding counseling clinic, etc.
The Institute is actively involved in health information dissemination through her Public Enlightenment and Mobilization Programmes (PEMP). Outreach activities of the Institute include health supervision for orphans.
The academic and technical staff members of the Institute are highly qualified and dedicated. The Institute welcomes collaboration and participation in activities which are geared towards achieving a vision of a World of healthy children starting in Nigeria.
